How to Seek Services?

Penndel Mental Health Center offers walk-in hours for intake. The individual can come during walk-in hours and request an assessment for APH. During the intake process, trained Mental Health Professionals complete a clinical assessment by gathering information to best recommend services. If the Mental Health Professional who performs the clinical assessment determines that APH is the appropriate level of care for the individual, the individual can usually start APH the same day or the following day.

What is APH?

Penndel’s Acute Partial Hospital (APH) program serves adults age 18+, for time-limited, intensive services aimed at stabilization post hospitalization or as a plan to prevent hospitalization. Clients must have a primary mental health diagnosis, but may have co-occurring disorders.

  • Most clients attend for 2-4 weeks, then step down to the Transitional Outpatient Program
  • Group therapy (6 groups) throughout the day, supplemented with individual therapy
  • Small group size
  • Trauma-informed approaches
  • Evidence-based interventions are incorporated in to all groups
  • Peer Support services are also woven into the APH program
  • Some groups are led by a nurse, with a focus on the interaction of physical and emotional health
  • Clients generally see a prescriber within the first week in program, and have follow-up visits multiple times while in APH
